Time is almost up to register for the Brewers Community Foundation’s 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk and the Hitting 4 the Cycle benefit bike ride. The races, which will be held on July 30 and Aug. 13, respectively, benefit a number of local organizations that, consistent with Brewers Community Foundation’s vision, focus on the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.
The 5K, hosted on July 30 at 8 a.m. features an all-new route that will once again make its way around the warning track of Miller Park. In addition, participants will get to test their skills against the Klement's Famous Racing SausagesTM, as they also run the course. Each participant will receive a complementary Klement’s Hot Dog, a Miller Lite (if 21 or older), Aquafina Water and ticket voucher to a select future Brewers home game. Packet Pick-Up will be held on July 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and July 29 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Miller Park Ticket Windows 19-24.
The cost to enter is $35, with proceeds benefiting Fisher House Wisconsin. Fans have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27 to register and can do so at brewers.com/5k. The event is sponsored by Brewers Community Foundation’s Leadership Council, BMO Harris Bank, Delta Dental, Delzer, Johnson Controls, Lubar & Co., MillerCoors, Northwestern Mutual, We Energies Foundation Inc. and West Bend Mutual Insurance.
On Saturday, August 13, Brewers Community Foundation will once again give bike lovers and Brewers fans the opportunity to combine their two favorite activities. Fans will be able to select one of three bike routes, (22, 44, or 100 miles) that will culminate with a fun-filled tailgate party and that evening’s Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds game.
The cost to register is $50, with a $150 mandatory fundraising minimum, and fans can do so by visiting brewers.ride-mlb.com. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, so riders are encouraged to act quickly. Proceeds of the event will benefit Urban Ecology Center, Dream Bikes and Capuchin Community Services.
Packet Pick-Up will be held at 88Nine - Radio Milwaukee on August 9. The event is sponsored by Prairie Springs, The Paul Fleckenstein Trust, United Healthcare, Kapco, The Lowlands Group and Marcus Investments.
