For years, Brewers fans have followed the exploits of promising prospects playing Class A ball in venues like Stockton, High Desert and West Virginia.

When the team severed ties with the Beloit Brewers, it didn't seem likely that the club would have a minor-league affiliate in the state.

Until now ...

The Brewers and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have scheduled a joint press conference for tomorrow morning at Time Warner Cable Field in Grand Chute and they'll announce a new player development contract.

It's about time, we say.

The Timber Rattlers, who play in a lovely ballpark, have been affiliated with the Seattle Mariners for the past several years and have developed quite a following.

Now, the Brewers can cultivate Fox Valley fans for their prospects and big-league club, they can send rehabbing players up north to get innings / at-bats and Time Warner can televise Timber Rattlers games.

This is a good move for everyone involved. Look at the photo of Fang, the Timber Rattlers' mascot. Does he look happy?
