Love the big green ogre with even a bigger heart? "SHREK – The Musical" is coming to the Marcus Performing Arts Center. But first, warm up with a free Broadway Skates! event at Red Arrow Park’s Slice of Ice on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free and fun-filled day, presented by The Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) and Milwaukee Downtown BID #21, will feature photo ops, ice skating, face painting and special giveaways. Ice Theatre MKE will perform to "I'm a Believer" and Piña Mexican Eats food truck will be onsite.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite Shrek-themed costume.

Skates and skater aides are available for rental inside the Slice of Ice Warming House, and ice sleds for skaters with mobility impairments are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. If the weather is too warm for skating, the event will still go on.

“We’re excited to have another opportunity to partner with Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21,” said Lory Bowman, MPAC Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “We look forward to offering families, friends and ogres of all ages the opportunity to come together and have some fun.”

The touring Broadway production of "SHREK – The Musical"  stops at the Marcus Performing Arts Center for two performances, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. and March 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at MarcusCenter.org.
