{image1}After the success of OMC's "Cutting the Cheese For Charity" event in April where local artists carved large blocks of cheddar cheese live during Gallery Night, public interest in fromage sculpting grew by chunks and slices.

Now, two more events wish to include OMC's "Cutting the Cheese" idea in their line-up and, consequently, are looking for artists of all ages and mediums who are interested in live, public cheese carving.

The two events are:

The Brady Street Artisan Food Festival seeks five artists to carve 40-lb. blocks of cheese during their second annual event on Sunday, July 31 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Artists chosen will receive a compensation package.

State Fair, running August 4-14, wants 10 artists, one per day, to carve large cheese blocks. Time is flexible and artists will be compensated.

In the original "Cuttin' the Cheese" event, 11 professional artists carved 40- and 75-lb. blocks of cheese live at the Hyde House in the Third Ward during Spring Gallery Night. The sculptures, which ranged from bizarre faces to bowling pins, were later showcased at the Pick 'N Save Metro Market on Van Buren Street.
