Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and one of Wisconsin’s very own skaters will invade Milwaukee Thursday for seven performances of the famous, almost constantly world-touring Disney on Ice spectacular.

Many of your favorite Disney characters will make appearances during the show, called "Passport to Adventure," running at the BMO Harris Bradley Center from Feb. 2-5.

Audiences – and there are lots of families who go to this show – will explore the African Pride Lands with Simba, Timon and Pumbaa; voyage deep under the sea to Ariel’s mystical underwater kingdom; and tour London with Peter Pan and Wendy before flying to Neverland to meet up with Tinker Bell.

They’ll also – for the first time in a Disney on Ice event – be whisked away to Arendelle, the world of "Frozen," for an extraordinary adventure with sisters Anna and Elsa, rugged mountain man Kristoff, and everyone’s favorite, huggable snowman Olaf, as they journey to discover that true love is the most magical power of all.

Angie Lien, who grew up in Superior in northern Wisconsin, is one of the world class, award-winning skaters who make up the Disney troupe.

She joined the Disney show in 2013 after performing on cruise ships and in a couple of shows in Mexico. Her job has given her the chance to travel the world, skating through Japan, China, Macau, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. She has a reputation as an energetic and outgoing skater, and has been like that since she started.

"My mom was a skating coach, and I used to go with her to work," Lien said. "I finally put on a pair of skates when I was three, and the rest is history."

Lien has an impressive record as an amateur skater, competing in six national competitions and winning a silver medal in the 2003 World University Games.

"My silver medal is my most prized possession," she said. "But making the change from competitive skating to show skating was difficult. It took some time."

She’s matured into an exciting performer, one well worth seeing recreate some of the world's most beloved Disney characters.

"I love show skating, seeing the smiles on the audience’s face. I love getting them involved in the show and making sure they have a good time."

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m., 3 and 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 1 and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $20 to $50, available at the box office, 1001 N. 4th St. by phone at (800) 745-3000 or via Ticketmaster. For more information on the show, visit here.

With a history in Milwaukee stretching back decades, Dave tries to bring a unique perspective to his writing, whether it's sports, politics, theater or any other issue.

He's seen Milwaukee grow, suffer pangs of growth, strive for success and has been involved in many efforts to both shape and re-shape the city. He's a happy man, now that he's quit playing golf, and enjoys music, his children and grandchildren and the myriad of sports in this state. He loves great food and hates bullies and people who think they are smarter than everyone else.

This whole Internet thing continues to baffle him, but he's willing to play the game as long as OnMilwaukee.com keeps lending him a helping hand. He is constantly amazed that just a few dedicated people can provide so much news and information to a hungry public.

Despite some opinions to the contrary, Dave likes most stuff. But he is a skeptic who constantly wonders about the world around him. So many questions, so few answers.
