Football is kicking off, the kids are back in school and the pumpkin spice lattes are flowing: It must be fall – with Halloween not far behind. And Deer District already has its costume in mind, as the Downtown entertainment district announced that it will transform into Fear District this Halloween season, featuring haunted houses, scary movie screenings, special holiday-themed food, spooky spirits – of both the drinking and the paranormal kind – and much more running from Thursday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 3.

"We are thrilled to bring the unique Halloween experience of Fear District to Milwaukee to delver a one-of-a-kind Halloween season tradition," said Michael Belot, Senior Vice President of Bucks Ventures and Development, in a press release. "Fear District will entertain everybody, making Deer District a must-do destination for Halloween."

Fear District will showcase three 3,600-square foot haunted house experiences – on vampire themed, one pirate themed and one farmhouse – featuring games and free photo stations, in addition to roving spooky performers and more.

Activities will stay family-friendly before 6 p.m., while things get darker in the evening with more intense scares, themed bars and classic horror movie screenings, including:

• Oct. 3: "Halloween"
• Oct. 10: "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"
• Oct. 17: "A Nightmare on Elm Street"
• Oct. 24: "Scream"
• Oct. 31: "Friday the 13th"

Fear District will also serve up multiple food and beverage stands, including The Crow's Nest Bar pop-up and speciality Halloween wines in the Beer Garden. Three of the venues will also features special spooky dishes, including eyeball cake pops, candy apples, sausages (or are they fingers!?) and more. 

Entry into Fear District is free, but tickets are required for the haunted houses, which will go on sale to the general public beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at Fear District's website or at the Fiserv Forum ticket office – with a presale running from Friday-Monday, Sept. 6-9 at the website. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under, as well as adults 65 and older. Games, food and beverages are sold separately. 

As for hours, Fear District will be open Thursdays from 6-10 p.m., Fridays from 6 to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sundays from 2 until 8 p.m. – again, with scarier activities and a darker atmosphere beginning after 6 p.m. For more information on Fear District, visit the event's website.
