I wouldn't normally associate State Fair food with good health – but that's exactly what's happening this year as Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced that those who get vaccinated at the fair will receive a free cream puff.
Those who get a poke at the State Fair's on-site vaccination clinic – open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. for walk-ins aged 12 and older – at any time during the fair will receive a voucher good for one free cream puff from the Cream Puff Pavilion. The clinic will offer both the Johnson & Johnson and the Pfizer vaccine.
“For 52 years, Kathy and I haven't missed a State Fair—except for last year, of course—and we’ve shared some of our favorite memories here, including eating our fair share of Wisconsin cream puffs,” said Gov. Evers. “Getting shots in arms is a critical part of making sure our state and our economy continue to recover, so we’re thrilled to partner with the folks at DHS and the Wisconsin State Fair to provide cream puffs to all those who get their COVID-19 vaccine at the state fair clinic on-site this year.”
BIG news, folks: we’re teaming up with @DHSWI and @wistatefair to host a #COVID19 vaccine clinic at the state fair and giving out a FREE cream puff to everyone who stops by to get their shot. Get the vaccine—and your cream puff!—between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. from Aug. 5-15th! — Governor Tony Evers (@GovEvers) August 4, 2021
The announcement arrives as COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations increase across the state and the nation, with Wisconsin DHS just today reporting a seven-day average of 1,000 cases a day – the highest mark since early February – due to the Delta variant. As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
