It almost happened twice this season, but this afternoon, the Brewers won 12 straight games when they beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 12-5.
AND WE KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!
George Webb will provide free hamburgers for fans. They will announce tomorrow the exact day, time and locations. (So don't head over to the restaurant tonight!)
As OnMilwaukee's Allen Halas shared earlier today, the prediction began appearing in advertisements in papers and at George Webb restaurants in Milwaukee as early as 1965, before the Braves left for Atlanta. When the Brewers came to Milwaukee, George’s son, Jim Webb, resurrected the free burger promotion for a dozen wins. Since then, Brewers fans have been on burger watch every summer.
In April of 1987, the Brewers won 12 straight games, and my sister, dad and I walked over to the George Webb that was located on Oakland Avenue in Shorewood. I'll have to find a new Webb to claim my free burger when the time comes!
So when and where can I get my free George Webb burger?
Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for the Big Brewer Burger news tomorrow!
