Whether you’ve been planning your costume for months or don’t dig dressing up at all, it’s fun to get a taste of spooky season. Here are a variety of local events to haunt this month. This list will be updated regularly so be sure to check back.

Wednesday, Oct. 13

Pumpkin Carving Party
Red Lion Pub, 1850 S. Water St. hosts a pumpkin carving party with seasonal drink specials, pumpkins and prizes. Tickers are $10. Find out more here.

Thursday, Oct. 14-17

Boo at the Zoo: Drive Thru
Stay in your vehicle and check out the different Halloween themes around the Zoo including Candy Corn Garden and Frankenstein’s Village. Drive by hundreds of pumpkins individually carved and candle lit. Roll down your windows to enjoy the Monster Mash and other fun Halloween songs. There will be stops along the way if you want to buy a snack or merchandise. Price is  $55 per carload and tickets must be purchased before arrival. More here

Friday, Oct. 15

Lapham Peak Haunted Hike
Walk the beautiful, moonlit, (haunted?) paths of Lapham Peak State Park and afterward enjoy live music and concessions by the bonfire. Tickets are $25. Leaves from the East Side and includes transportation to the park. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Go here for more deets.

Friday, Oct. 22

HiHat Halloween Drag Show
Check out the Halloween Drag Show at HiHat, 1701 N. Arlington Pl. Starts at 10 p.m. More coming here this week.

Saturday, Oct. 23

Freakitona Halloween Boat Party
Climb aboard the Edelweiss for Milwaukee's First Latin Halloween Boat Party. Wear a costume and get ready to dance your booty off with live DJs. Tickets are $50. More here.

Thursday, Oct. 28

Halloween Party at the South Milwaukee Library
Ideal for families of all ages. Takes place at the library, 1907 10th Ave., from 6 to 7 p.m. This is a free event.

Friday, Oct. 29-Sunday, Oct. 31

Magic and Comedy at the Haunted Brumder Mansion
Celebrate the scariest holiday in a spooky, old mansion, 3046 N. Wisconsin Ave. Two Brothers One Mind, who are magician and comedians, will perform and promise to leave you stunned and smiling. Check out more here

Saturday, Oct. 30

Spooks and Spokes Halloween Bike Ride
Wheel & Sprocket, 187 S. Beecher St., hosts a costumed bike ride at 10 a.m. in search of ghosts, ghouls and Halloween spirits. Go here to find out more.

Halloween Drag Brunch
The Crafty Cow in Bay View will host a Halloween Drag Brunch. Costumes are encouraged. Seasonal food and drinks are guaranteed. Get the deets here.

4th Annual Water Street Halloween Bar Crawl
This scary soiree starts at 4 p.m. at Brothers Bar & Grill and continues until the wee hours at 10 more nearby bars. Drink specials and a costume contest with a $1,000 Grand Prize are in the plans. Tickets are required. Go here for more info and for tickets.

Halloween on Brady Street
Party until you’re a zombie on Brady Street at any or all of the 16 participating bars. Enter the costume contest with a $1,000 first prize. Officially starts at 7 p.m. Go here for more info.

Mad Planet Costume Bash
This annual Halloween extravaganza features a 90's and 00's Dance Party with DJ Milkman, costume contest and more. Begins at 9 p.m. at the legendary dance club, 533 E. Center St. Get the lowdown here.

Falklandia Halloween Party
Falklandia Brewing, 3807 S. Packard, is having its annual Halloween party with costumes, spooky cocktails and more TBA events. The horror-filled fun starts at 4 p.m. More right here.

Rocky Horror Halloween
Special Halloween edition of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Oriental Theatre, 2230 N. Farewell Ave. Starts at 11:55 p.m. Includes the live Sensual Daydreams cast performing along with the film.

Kelly’s Bleachers Halloween Bash
Live DJ, drink specials, beer pong and a heavily decorated bar is on tap at Kelly’s Bleacher. Enter the costume contest with over $800 in cash prizes. More here.
