Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22, but for those of us who need to wait until the weekend to celebrate the planet properly, Rock The Green is perfect.

Rock the Green’s annual Earth Day Celebration returns on Saturday, April 26, at the Harley-Davidson Museum from noon to 3 p.m. The free, family-friendly event, now in its 14th year, promotes sustainability and community engagement with zero waste initiatives. It is presented in collaboration with Milwaukee Riverkeeper and the City of Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office.

"We’re looking forward to celebrating our 14th Earth Day Celebration with live music, hands-on eco-education, wellness experiences and a community of changemakers – all in a family-friendly, zero-waste setting," says Lindsay Stevens, Rock The Green's Executive Director.

Sound appealing? Indeed, it does. Here are 5 reasons why you really don't wanna miss this one.

1. It's free!

Rock The Green is 100 percent free. Free to attend. Free parking. Freeeee!

2. Live music, "sound bath," goat yoga and more

As always, Rock The Green features some very unique performances and experiences. At noon, 1st Lady Ceiba will ease into the scene with a Sound Bath Meditation. American roots music group, The Zach Pietrini Band, will crank things into gear on the pedal-powered stage at 12:30 and 2 p.m. Bango from The Bucks will make a special appearance from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

At 1 p.m., Earth Day remarks will be made by Stevens; Jennifer Bolger Breceda, Executive Director of Milwaukee Riverkeeper; Erick Shambarger, Director of Environmental Sustainability; and Guy Smith, the Executive Director of the Milwaukee County Parks.

Plus, baby goat yoga (pre-registration required); new-this-year henna tattoos; paragliding simulation; interactive mermaid and freshwater conservation experience with Mermaid Echo; free chair massages from Nelipot's Mind & Rejuvenation; a raw food demo featuring Raw Food Chef Caroline Carter from PBS' "Cooking Raw;" a presentation of the Dan Aukofer Earth Day Rockstar Award; poetry from Kavon Cortez-Jones; and a pop-up drum circle with Angie Mack of Ozaukee Talent

3. Eco-education

The Eco-Champs Alley will feature 40 nonprofit and environmental organizations showcasing ways to support sustainability efforts. Get ready to learn a thing or 10! Vendors will also be on site.

4. Local vegan and organic food

Motor Bar & Restaurant will offer food and drinks throughout the event, and there will also be a free water station to refill water bottles. Available items include vegan smokehouse chili, vegan BLT, birria wild mushroom "sloppy joes," and buffalo smoked chicken dip with homemade chips.

5. Community in action

Rock The Green is a festival with a purpose. Getting together with like-minded folks who care about sustainability and the earth's future – while having a good time – is healthy for everyone.

"Rock the Green brings sustainability to life," says Stevens. "It’s fun. It’s inspiring. And it’s for everyone who wants to be part of building a greener future."
