Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy will undergo season-ending ankle surgery this week, the club announced today.
Hardy, injured sliding into home play May 16 against Philadelphia, will undergo a retinacular repair to stabilize the peroneal tendon in his right ankle. Team doctor William Raasch will perform the operation. The expected recovery time is three to four months.
Hardy, who missed much of the 2004 season with a shoulder injury at Class AAA, hit .242 with five homers and 15 RBI in 35 games this season.
